Jian Wen
VEX IQ, V5 Head Coach, VRC/VIQC Judge
Jian Wen is the founder of Robotfun Academy, dedicated to bringing STEM education to communities. With a PhD in chemical engineering and over 15 years of technical and management experience in global manufacturing and production automation—especially in the medical device industry—Jian combines deep industry expertise with agile leadership. He applies this knowledge daily to coach competition teams, fostering skills in innovation, risk management, and teamwork.

Elham Sakhteman

Elham Sakhteman is a dedicated educator with a background in mechanical engineering and over a decade of experience teaching and mentoring students. She is passionate about helping students build confidence in STEM through hands-on activities, creative problem-solving, and team-based robotics challenges. Elham is also a full-time teacher in a public elementary school within the Newton School District.

Kim Vanaman
Public Speaking Specialist
Kim Vanaman is the director of middle school speech teams and an experienced teacher with a strong background in theatre and dance. During her time as a speech team parent, Kim participated as a judge, coach, and winning competitor in alumni/judge events. Kim believes in making public speaking a fun activity for kids and adults of all ages; she strives to create a comfortable and supportive environment for students to develop this life skill in her classes.

Renan Jewell
VEX Robotics Class Lead Instructor
VEX IQ and V5 Competition Team Programming Coach
Renan Jewell is a robotics engineer with hands-on experience in ROS-based development, autonomous vehicles, and soft robotics, gained through research roles at BU’s RASTIC Lab and the NSF BioSoRo REU program. Renan co-founded Indiana University’s Robotics Club and has led projects involving drones, rovers, and stereo vision systems. He brings strong skills in Python, C++, mechanical design, and prototyping.
Gülgün Babali
LEGO Robotics Lead Instructor
VEX Robotics Lead Instructor
Gülgün Babali is a STEM and robotics educator with expertise in teaching middle school students cutting-edge technologies including 3D printing, TinkerCAD, Arduino, and LEGO robotics platforms such as Spike Prime and EV3. Currently also teaching at another private school in Boston, she develops curricula, and mentors students for national and international robotics competitions. She holds a Master’s degree in STEAM and Chemistry Education from Baku State University and brings hands-on experience in laboratory work, coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Scratch), and innovative problem-solving to inspire the next generation of learners.
