(PreK-K) LEGO STEAM Park and Coding Express
The STEAM Park unit allows students explore the world around them as they use functional elements to build interactive models. The lessons provide opportunities for students to think like scientists as they build models, and experiment and test ideas to answer questions. Throughout their learning, strategic questions will also guide students to apply science, technology, engineering, art, and math skills. Most importantly, the lessons will help students to become problem-solvers by enhancing their creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.
The Coding Express unit uses a relevant theme that naturally incorporates early coding skills. Throughout the unit, students will intuitively use computational thinking to develop designs and express ideas as they build a train and tracks, and position action bricks to affect the train’s behavior. The lessons also provide fun and engaging opportunities for students to explore early coding-related concepts and think like digital age learners as they build train tracks of various shapes. Most importantly, the lessons will help students to become problem-solvers by enhancing their creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.
STEAM Park
Explore the world around them as they use functional elements to build interactive models.
Moving on Water
In this lesson, students will learn about how and why things float, and design and test sails.
Gears
In this lesson, students will learn about how gears work.
Train Sound
In this lesson students will understand the function of each action bricks and how to use them to solve problems.
O-Shaped Track - Looping
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore and understand use of the O-shaped track for repeating sequences.
Music - Animal Concert
With this lesson students will be able to recognize different animal sounds and be able to compose a simple melody using digital tools.
Needs of Plants and Animals
This unit allows students to explore plants and animals, their habitats, their interactions, and the environment.
Functional Elements
The objective of this lesson is to familiarize students with the special elements in the STEAM Park set.
Probability
In this lesson, students will learn about probability, making predictions, and recording data.
Chain Reaction
In this lesson, students will learn about cause and effect by creating chain reactions.
Are You Sleeping, Brother John?
In this lesson, students will debug errors in a program that includes a sequence.

Ramps
In this lesson, students will learn about how and why things roll, and predict and measure distances using non-standard units.
Performing Arts
In this lesson, students will learn about different forms of art, and they will create and role-play a show
First Trip
This getting started activity will allow the children to explore the action bricks and different bricks in the set.
Trip to See Animals
Can you decompose the steps needed to solve a problem into a sequence of instructions?
Character - Caterpillar
In this lesson students will use the action bricks to help them roleplay, recognize, and understand different emotions.
Math - Distance
In this lesson students will understand how to measure distance, be able to compare distances and be able to do simple math.
