VEX IQ Robotics Competition Level Up is played on a 6’ x 8’ rectangular field configured as seen above. Two robots compete in the Teamwork Challenge as an alliance in 60 second long teamwork matches, working collaboratively to score points. Teams also compete in the Robot Skills Challenge where one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible. These matches consist of Driving Skills Matches, which will be entirely driver controlled, and Autonomous Coding Skills Matches, which will be autonomous with limited human interaction.

Course Requirements:

  • VEX IQ Foundation 1, 2 (completed in semesters or camps)

  • VEX IQ Advanced (completed in summer camp)

  • VEX IQ Competition pre-season (completed in summer camp)

Competition Levels and Tuition Package:

  • Elite Team: High-performance competition team designed for students with the highest level of commitment as primary builders, programmers, and team leaders. Teams are selective and highly competitive, aiming for national signature competitions and World Championship qualification.

    • Meets 4 or more times on weekdays and weekends, about 10-15hrs weekly commitment 

    • Advanced engineering, programming, and strategy development

    • Intended for highly dedicated students pursuing top-level competition performance

    • Elite teams will travel for 2-3 high-competitive national competitions mid-week in Nov (Saint Charles, Missouri) and Dec (Orlando, Florida).

 

  • Standard Team: Core competition team focused on consistent participation, technical skill development, and seasonal competition experience leading to the Massachusetts State Championship.​

    • Meets 3 times per week on weekdays and/or weekends, about 7-9hrs weekly commitment

    • Balanced competitive environment with structured learning and teamwork

    • Ideal for students seeking strong robotics experience with moderate time commitment

 

  • Experience Team: Introductory competition pathway for students with limited availability due to other academic, athletic, or extracurricular commitments who still want meaningful exposure to competitive robotics.

    • Meets 2 times per week on weekdays, about 3-5hrs of weekly commitment

    • Focused on foundational robotics skills, teamwork, and competition experience

    • Teams participate primarily in local qualifier events

What’s Included:

  • All robot building materials, electronics, and pneumatics for up to 2 robots per team.

  • One laptop per team for programming and Engineering Notebook.

  • Coaching and Management:

    • Guiding robot research, design, and iterative improvements

    • Supporting teamwork, programming, and competition readiness (in-state and out-of-state)

    • Coaching time management, risk assessment, presentation skills, and leadership development

  • Classroom Access: Regular business hours, excluding after-business hours, holidays, and school breaks

  • Federal holidays and school breaks, including:

    • Labor Day: Sep 7, 2026

    • Thanksgiving Break: Nov 27 – Nov 29, 2026

    • Christmas and New Year Break: Dec 23, 2026 – Jan 3, 2027

    • Winter Break: Feb 15 – 19, 2027

    • Spring Break: Apr 19 – 23, 2027

    • Memorial Weekend: May 29-31, 2027

  • Competition event registration fees are shared across the team

  • Travel expenses​ are extra

Team Composition:

  • Size: 4–6 members per team

  • Student Roles: Builders, Coders, Notebook Managers, Drivers, Loader, Stategist

  • Elementary Division: Grades 4–6

  • Middle School Division: Grades 6–8

 

Payment:

  • 60% due by the first week of September 2026

  • 40% due by the first week of January 2027

  • Alumni Discount: 5% off for legacy competition students

  • Sibling Discount: 5% off for additional family members
